ARITA announces new 2023-2024 Board


Following the 2023 Annual General Meeting, ARITA welcomes its new Board.

ARITA held its National AGM on Tuesday 30 May and is delighted to welcome Rachel Burdett RITF from Cor Cordis to her two-year term as ARITA’s new President.

Danielle Funston from Maddocks is the new Deputy President, Kathy Sozou from McGrathNicol the new Vice President while Mike Hayes from Piper Alderman was elected Vice President (and representing ARITA’s SA/NT division).

They are joined on the Board by Jason Porter FCA RITF of SV Partners representing NSW/ACT, Leanne Chesser of KordaMentha representing Vic/Tas, Kelly Trenfield of FTI Consulting representing Qld, Matthew Donnelly of Deloitte representing WA, Mathew Gollant of CJG Advisory and Bruce Gleeson of Jones Partners | Insolvency & Restructuring.

After more than a decade of exceptional service on the ARITA Board, outgoing President Michael Brereton of William Buck becomes Immediate Past President and ARITA bids farewell to now former IPP (but continuing INSOL International Global President) Scott Atkins of Norton Rose Fulbright who was ARITA’s second ever lawyer as President.

The Board remains supported by ARITA’s INSOL Board appointee Robyn Erskine AM of Brooke Bird.

As a sign of the success of its efforts to be a truly representative professional body, Rachel becomes ARITA’s second woman President (Robyn Erskine being the first in 2011). In addition, three-quarters of the Board Executive are now women and 50% of the Board (excluding CEO John Winter) are women, while 80% of the Divisional Committee Chairs and Deputy Chairs are women.
