Court inquiry into liquidator’s conduct

On 13 November 2019, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission announced that it had filed an application with the Federal Court seeking an inquiry into the conduct of Registered Liquidator and ARITA member Mr Jason Bettles.

ARITA will continue to monitor this matter, subject to a determination of the Court to consider, what, if any, further action may be warranted in respect of Mr Bettles conduct. 

ARITA has an oversight role under its Constitution in relation to its members to ensure good standards of conduct are met in the insolvency profession. The ARITA Code of Professional Practice sets principles and standards in relation to the conduct of its members through which we seek to uphold those standards. The Constitution allows ARITA to take action against a member in circumstances where there is a concern regarding a member’s professional conduct.
