Assessments

The assessments for this unit are designed to reflect real-world professional scenarios in restructuring, insolvency and turnaround. The goal is to ensure that students can apply their knowledge in practice, not just demonstrate theoretical understanding:

Written tasks and case studies

  • These assess your ability to analyse legal, ethical and financial scenarios.
  • You’ll apply principles from legislation (e.g. Corporations Act, Bankruptcy Act), industry practice, and ARITA standards to structured problems.
  • Case studies simulate actual engagements involving distressed businesses, formal appointments, and turnaround planning.

Project-based assessments

  • Some tasks require you to produce reports, strategic plans, or communication outputs that mimic those prepared by professionals in formal insolvency roles.
  • These may involve analysis of financial documentation, preparation of restructuring advice, or compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Interactive workshops and tutorials

  • Workshops (delivered either face-to-face or online) include structured group activities, ethical discussions, and formative tasks.
  • Tutorials are used to reinforce key concepts and provide opportunities for feedback and clarification.
  • While not all workshop activities are formally assessed, they build the skills you’ll need to succeed in your summative task

You are required to complete all assessments and demonstrate all skills and knowledge satisfactorily in order to be deemed competent in this unit.
